Missing Woman's Body Found In Florida Keys

KEY WEST (CBSMiami) – Detectives with the Monroe County Sheriff's Major Crimes Unit are investigating the death of a Florida Keys woman.

The body of Angela Taylor, 36, was discovered by the Coast Guard in Boca Grande Channel around 11 a.m. Sunday.  She had been reported missing earlier in the weekend after her dinghy washed up on an offshore island according to authorities.

A good Samaritan discovered the dinghy near Man Key and called the U.S. Coast Guard, Saturday.

Detectives said Taylor lived offshore of Key West on a boat, anchored near Wisteria Island.

Taylor's boyfriend, who lives on a boat moored 100 yards from hers, told detectives he had last seen her in the morning when she left his boat in her dinghy.

According to investigators, Taylor's boyfriend was questioned again after her body was located and he said the two of them have been together on and off for 20 years. He said they were at a party, drinking, from Friday night until the early morning hours Saturday. He said they left the party and returned to his boat in her dinghy because his was out of gas. He said once on the boat, they argued and she left his boat on her dinghy at about 1:30 a.m. That was the last time he said he saw her, according to detectives.

An autopsy is underway to determine a cause of death.
