Expecting Mom Released From Jail Monday Taken Into Police Custody

FT LAUDERDALE (CBSMiami) – Less than 24 hours after being released from jail, on the heels of having her criminal charges 'reduced,' Brittney Sierra was placed back in custody Tuesday afternoon.

According to the Broward State Attorney's Office, Sierra was picked up on a warrant after violating the terms of her release.

She was seen leaving the main jail in a pink maternity top, handcuffed and being driven to Broward Health Medical Center for a pregnancy checkup.

On Monday, Judge Matthew Destry ordered Brittney Sierra be released on her own recognizance but reside with a distant family friend who had agreed to house Sierra until she stood trial on neglect charges.

Judge Destry gave strict instructions that Sierra was not to leave the house except for doctor's visits related to her pregnancy.

However that friend, Yolande Georges changed her mind about housing Sierra, after coming to court on Monday and realizing that she had not been told the full story about Sierra—she's nine months pregnant and past her due date.

CBS 4 spoke to Georges at her Ft. Lauderdale home on Tuesday.

Georges said when she saw Brittney in court she told her mother, "You didn't tell me she is pregnant."

She also said that she learned about the circumstances of her arrest on Monday.

Sierra is accused of child neglect in the disappearance and subsequent retrieval of her infant son whose bones were found buried in the backyard of her former Hallandale Beach home.

Sierra has pointed the finger at the baby's father, Dontrell Melvin, who remains in jail.  Melvin has blamed her for the baby's disappearance.

After her baby is born, the infant will be placed in DCF custody.  Sierra will be allowed supervised visits.

Once Sierra has the baby, DCF will take the child. She is expected to be granted some type of visitation of the new child as well as her two other boys. Where she will have that baby is up in the air now.

A hearing is scheduled for Sierra Wednesday morning at 8:30.
