MIAMI (CBSMiami) – A deadly motorcycle accident early Monday morning temporarily shut down U.S. 1 between the mainland and Key Largo.
Around 4:45 a.m., the motorcyclist, who was heading north on the highway, lost control and struck a guard rail at mile marker 106. The driver was thrown from the bike which skidded across the northbound lanes, over the median and across the southbound lanes where it ended up in a ditch.
During the course of their investigation, the Florida Highway Patrol closed both lanes of the road and drivers were diverted to Card Sound Road.
