Body Found Floating Off Upper Keys

KEY LARGO (CBS4) – The Monroe County Sheriff's Office is trying to identify a man whose body was found floating about a mile offshore of the Upper Keys Saturday.

A boater discovered the man's body about a mile offshore on the gulf side of the 98 mile marker and called to report it. The boater stayed with the body until the U.S. Coast Guard and the Sheriff's Office could arrive.

The body was described as that of a white male, most likely 35 – 45 years old with short brown hair and no facial hair. He was approximately 5'9" – 5'10" tall and about 170 pounds.

The man has a number of tattoos, including a mermaid on his stomach, a sun and moon tattoo on his right side and on the underside of his upper arm a tattoo that said "I am what I am". He was clothed in brown shorts with a blue cloth belt and had no identification on him.

Detectives said there were no obvious signs of foul play on the body.

There are currently no reported missing persons who fit the description of the man who was found.

Anyone who recognizes his description should call the Sheriff's Office at (305) 289-2351.
