Davie, North Miami Police Stage "Shooter" Drills

MIAMI (CBSMiami) – Davie police raced to a school campus early Wednesday morning after a gunman opened fire. Two hours later, there was another shooting at Johnson & Wales, North Miami Campus.

But there were no bodies or blood in either case because both were drills.

Davie police along with the town's Fire Rescue department staged an 'active shooter response' training exercise at the A. Hugh Adams Central Campus, 3501 S.W. Davie Road, Davie. The exercise is scheduled to last throughout the day and area residents should not be concerned with the numerous emergency personnel, vehicles and equipment on or near the college campus.

At Johnson & Wales, North Miami Police also conducted an 'active shooter response' drill which included police officers and first responders from the Biscayne Park P.D., Florida International University P.D., and the Miami-Dade Fire Department.

This exercise was designed to simulate a real life shooting to help prepare the officers and first responders to prepare for a collective emergency response.
