Alton Road Flyover Bridge Construction Complete
MIAMI (CBSMiami) - Since July 16th, the Alton Road flyover bridge has been closed for construction forcing drivers on the MacArthur Causeway wanting to go northbound on Alton to seek alternate route. A few days short of the anticipated month-long completion date, the flyover bridge is now open.
The Alton Road flyover bridge opened for traffic late Tuesday--a few days ahead of schedule, the Florida Department of Transportation announced earlier Tuesday.
The flyover bridge project was set in place to have the guardrail replaced and the base rebuilt.
The project was expected to take 30-days, but had it run behind schedule, the contractor would have been charged $5,000 a day for up to five days.
