KEY LARGO  – Pups on paddleboards and canines in kayaks starred in a “yappy happy hour” paddle to raise funds for a Florida Keys pet rescue organization.

Staged late Monday afternoon by Key Largo’s MarrVelous Pet Rescues & Adoptions, dogs up for adoption joined other canines, their owners and could-be owners for the Paddlin’ & Pups event to raise animal rescue awareness and facilitate dog adoptions to “fur-ever” homes

“Here in the Florida Keys it’s a great way for people to come and visit, learn what they can do on the water with their dog, and it also brings awareness to the rescue and how you can help,” said Patricia Hann, a board member of MarrVelous Pet Rescues.

The monthly event, executed in conjunction with Florida Bay Outfitters, attracts beginner-to-expert paddlers to enjoy pre-sunset relaxation on Key Largo waters. The gathering also encourages people to share water recreation activities with four-legged companions.
