South Florida Cabbie Seriously Injured In Early Morning Accident
MIAMI (CBSMiami) – A South Florida cabbie who came to the rescue of a fellow taxi driver was seriously hurt in an accident involving a suspected DUI driver.
Sunday, around 5:45 a.m., a cab driver's taxi broke down on Biscayne Boulevard near 50th Terrace. He reached out to a fellow cabbie for help. As the two men were pushing the cab off to the side of the street, a driver who police suspect was under the influence slammed into the cab, according to Miami police spokeswoman Kenia Reyes.
The cabbie who came to help was rushed to Jackson Memorial Hospital with critical injuries to his legs.
The driver was taken into custody.
Police have not released the names of the injured man or the driver.
