Deerfield Beach Man Gunned Down After Leaving Lauderdale Club

FT. LAUDERDALE (CBSMiami) – Ft. Lauderdale police are searching for a shooter who gunned down a Deerfield Beach father after he left a Ft. Lauderdale night club.

Sunday around 4:30 a.m. officers in the area of W. Broward Boulevard and Florida Avenue heard gunshots.

As they went to check it out they spotted a black, 2006 BMW speeding east on W. Broward Blvd. without its headlights on.

Thinking that it may be linked to the gunfire, police pulled the car over.

Inside, they found the body of Corey Pratter, 26, who had been shot multiple times.

Pratter's friends told the police he had left a nearby club to hang out with them on Florida Avenue.

While there, he was approached by an armed man who shot him several times before taking off.

Pratter's friends said they didn't recognize the guy.

After the shooting, Pratter's friends put him in the car and were taking him to the hospital when they were pulled over by the police.

"There just wasn't a reason for him to get shot in the face and to be shot that many times,  I just don't understand that," said Pratter's older brother Kamel Warren.

Warren said, years ago, he had another brother who was shot and killed.

He said that shooter was never caught.

"A mother can only take so much. I just want justice to be served here. There were a lot of people around a lot of witnesses and I'd like someone to come forward and say something."

Anyone with information on the shooting is urged to call Ft. Lauderdale homicide Detective Jack DiCristofalo at (954) 828-6096 or Broward Crime Stoppers at (954) 493-TIPS.
