Powerball Jackpot $425M For Wednesday's Drawing

MIAMI (CBSMiami) - Sure the chances of a big win when playing the Powerball are slim, but who's to say it's not worth trying—especially when Wednesday's drawing boasts a $425 million jackpot.

The jackpot increased to the generous sum after the Saturday's drawing didn't match any player's tickets.

While the jackpot isn't quite as hefty as the $590.5 jackpot prize won back in May, the $425 million is sure to cause excitement as players hope to win big.

The winner of the $590.5 Powerball drawing, making her the largest sole winner in history, was purchased by 84-year old Gloria MacKenzie of Zephyrhills.

MacKenzie opted to take her winnings in one lump sum which amounted to a little less than $371 million, according to lottery officials.

Saturday's drawing, while no tickets matched all five numbers including the Powerball number, ten tickets won matching four numbers. Each ticket holder will collect $10,000.

The Powerball drawing is set for Wednesday.
