FIU Football Coach Apologizes For Nude Beach Showering Incident

MIAMI (CBS4) – FIU has apologized for athletes showering by the beach while nude.

Beach visitors called Miami-Dade police to report some of the team members naked at the public beach.

According to a statement from the FIU Head Football Coach, Ron Turner, the team had a morning workout and barbecue to end the summer conditioning program, Friday, at Crandon Park on Key Biscayne.

The coach said a few of the athletes went to rinse off at a designated public shower area and some of them removed their clothing and changed in public.

"I want to apologize to the community and anyone who was at the beach this morning for this unfortunate incident. We are committed to helping our student athletes grow as gentlemen while preparing them for their careers. We are looking into this incident, and if appropriate, will take disciplinary action," the statement read.
