NRA Giving Free Memberships To Military & Law Enforcement

MIAMI (CBSMiami) – The National Rifle Association has thrown its weight around in 2013 helping to stymie any gun control measures. Now, the NRA wants to increase its numbers and is hoping to do that with law enforcement and the military.

According to the NRA's official website, the organization dedicated to working with gun manufacturers is offering free membership to all active-duty military, first responders, and law enforcement personnel.

The NRA's move comes after it said membership jumped after the push earlier this year for tighter background checks and other measures following the murders of dozens of first-graders in Newtown, Connecticut.

The NRA blamed Hollywood violence and violent video games for the shootings saying lax gun laws had nothing to do with the murders.

According to talkingpointsmemo.com, the one-year membership includes: discounts on NRA merchandise, life insurance a free subscription to the NRA American Warrior magazine.
