Police: Bar Manager Put Customer In Coma

MIAMI (CBS4) - A St. Petersburg bartender has been charged in an incident which left a Miami man in a coma.

It happened over the weekend at the Suite Six Club on Central Avenue.

A female bartender allegedly asked bartender Blake Ambrester, 24, to intervene when she felt threatened by 39-year old Jeremy Fisher.

Ambrester told police he asked Fisher to leave, but he refused and had to be physically removed from the bar.

He claims he placed Fisher in a "choke hold" and took him outside of the bar.

Police believe Fisher passed out while being taken outside.

When he was released by Ambrester, he fell face first onto the sidewalk and injured his face and neck.

Ambrester flagged down a passing police officer for help when he says he realized Fisher was injured.

Initially, police did not arrest Ambrester, however, Monday, detectives took him into custody and charged him with aggravated battery.

Fisher will require surgery for the injuries to his neck according to police and he remains in a coma at Bayfront Medical Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Fisher was a editor at CBS4 from 2001 to 2007.   He also worked with Sun Sports in Ft. Lauderdale.
