Two People Injured In Hollywood SUV Crash

HOLLYWOOD (CBSMiami) – Alcohol may have played a role in a crash that trapped two people inside an SUV that slammed into a tree Monday morning, according to the Hollywood Police Department.

21-year-old Aaron Cypress and 15-year-old Colton Vasquez were both injured.

Firefighters had to use saws and pry bars to free them from the 2003 Lincoln Aviator.

The crash happened just after 6 a.m. when police say the SUV's driver lost control and plowed into the tree in the 6700 block of Charleston Street.

It took Hollywood Fire Rescue personnel about 45 minutes to cut Cypress and Vasquez out of the badly damaged Lincoln.

Both were transported to Memorial Regional Hospital.

At last report, police said Cypress had life-threatening injuries and Vasquez had serious injuries.

The Hollywood Police Department Traffic Homicide Unit investigators are still looking into the crash details.
