A Danish tourist found himself spending more time in jail than on Miami Beach after he allegedly skipped out on a hefty tab at a South Beach restaurant.

Dustin Visser, 36, is accused of leaving Kitchen Restaurant at the Strand Hotel without paying the $737 bill he racked up.

During an appearance in bond court Thursday, Visser said he was in town with his girlfriend and they were purchasing items for her store in Jamaica and that he simply didn't have the money to pay the large bill.

Visser told the judge he knew no one in town that could bail him out and asked if someone could contact the Danish embassy.

According to the arrest affidavit, Visser told the restaurant staff that he didn't have enough money when the check came and that he needed to go get it from his hotel room nearby.

When Visser did not return, according to the affidavit, the restaurant called police.

When police arrived at Visser's hotel, he told them he had no money. He was arrested.

Visser is being held on $5000 bond.
