NBA TV Accidentally Runs Ad Touting Spurs As 2013 Champs

MIAMI (CBSMiami) – If there's any organization that should know which team won the 2013 NBA Championship; one would think it would have to be the NBA.

Right?

After all, the NBA is actually in the title NBA Champion and the NBA puts on the NBA Playoffs and NBA Finals each season.

It's not unusual for championship promotions, plus championship gear, to be produced ahead of time.

That's how networks and other groups can have ads congratulating the winner air within seconds of the game ending.

Still, if you watched NBA TV over the weekend, the organization ran an ad touting the San Antonio Spurs as the 2013 NBA Champions. Seriously, there's video of it here:

The gear that is produced for the losing team in most major sports is often donated to needy families in third-world countries.

In the Spurs' case, the team was literally seconds away from hoisting the championship in Game 6 and had another shot in Game 7 before ultimately losing. So having championship gear and promos ready to roll isn't unusual.

In this case, the promotion, with an assist from the NBA TV accident, did what the actual Spurs could not, crown themselves champion in 2013.
