Tampa Area Woman Accused In Acid Attack

TAMPA (CBSMiami) – A Tampa area woman was charged after she allegedly threw muriatic acid into another person's face.

Melissa Diane Egbert, 39, reportedly poured the acid onto her victim, then jumped in a car and drove off, according to the Tampa Tribune. The entire act was caught on surveillance video, according to police.

Police have not released the name or condition of the person who Egbert allegedly attacked.

Egbert, who is from Largo, has been charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and is being held without bond.

Police have not said what motivated the attack.
