BSO Looking For Thieves Who Targeted Gun Safe

DANIA BEACH (CBSMiami) – The Broward Sheriff's Office hopes the public can help nab a robber who struck a gun safe that was bolted to the ground and then used a credit card from the safe.

The thief hit the home of Albert Owler in January after he left for work one morning. Owler said he saw the man leave and didn't think anything of it until a neighbor called to tell him his house had been burglarized.

Owler and BSO detectives said the burglars found a safe inside with 11 guns, jewelry, and credit cards. Owler said he had so many guns because he's a competitive skeet shooter. The Owler's said they were devastated.

"It makes you so angry," Albert said. "The stuff you can replace, the sentimental value you can't. The emotion of my wife is just something that tears you up inside."

Owler said none of the guns or jewelry has been recovered and that after the theft, one of the men was accused of using a stolen credit card the same day the house was robbed. Owler said thieves used the credit cards to rack up hundreds in charges before the accounts were closed.

Owler and BSO hope that someone in the community recognizes the man on the tape.

"It would be better for these people to be off the streets. They're not good people," Albert said.

If you have any information that could help detectives solve the mystery, call Broward Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS (8477).
