Miami Heat "Super Fan" Gets Special Attention Ahead of NBA Finals

MIAMI (CBS4) - A Miami Heat fan was honored Tuesday for her dedication to supporting the Eastern Conference Champions.

The team paid tribute to Ana Munoz at a special block party, complete with Burnie the mascot and the Miami Heat Dancers.

Munoz  is raising the next generation of diehard Heat fans.

"As a family, we all love the Heat. They watch cartoons. I watch soap operas. But when it's Heat day, everybody sits around that TV or we go to the arena together," Munoz told CBS 4's Lauren Pastrana. "It's just a family thing."

The family of season ticket holders said rooting for the "Big 3" is a must.

"It's kind of not a choice with my mom," 13-year-old Wilfred Munoz said. "You like it or you're not going to want to come to our house during Heat games."

Wilfred's room is packed to Miami Heat memorabilia.

Signed jerseys, basketball and photos cover ever inch.

From the curtains to the bedspread, he sleeps surrounded by a sea of red, black and white.

"It's just gotten really out of control," Ana Munoz exclaimed.

The family dogs are even named "Miami" and "Heat".

But Ana Munoz wasn't satisfied to stop at her own home.

She spread some Heat cheer throughout the neighborhood, placing white hot Heat logos on lawns in her community.

Some may say it's all a bit much, but the self-proclaimed "neighborhood captain" wouldn't have it any other way.

"My brother's think I'm insane. My sisters think I'm insane. But you know what, they're all here," Munoz said. "They're all a part of it. So it's all fun."

Neighbors said they didn't mind her devotion.

"It brings the neighborhood together and she's just a wonderful neighbor," Gale Nelson said. "She's the biggest heat fan in the world!"

Munoz has her tickets to the Finals, but they are proving tough to come by for some.

On Tuesday night, a ticket in the 400 level on Ticketmaster.com was listed for $222.65.

Prices on the secondary market topped $20,000 for a courtside seat.

Miami Heat merchandise was also selling out fast.

At the Sports Authority in Midtown Miami, the manager said they had to restock the Eastern Conference Championship t-shirts after dozens of people lined up before the store opened to get their hands on the goods.

Game 1 is Thursday at the American Airlines Arena.
