The incident began just after 3 p.m. when several students reported seeing another student place a suspicious device in the courtyard of Millenium Middle School, according to the Broward Sheriff’s Office. The school had already been on lockdown due to a strong-arm robbery in the area, and the students thought the lockdown was related to the device. The students also reportedly told authorities that the suspect previously bragged to other classmates that he places a bomb on campus.

Broward Sheriff’s Office officials say the situation ended when the device was safely detonated. It is unclear what exactly the device was.
