Group Calls For Investigation In Shooting Of Boston Bombing Suspects Friend

MIAMI (CBSMiami) – It's been a week since an FBI agent shot and killed a Chechen immigrant in his Orlando apartment after they said he got violent during when they questioned him about his relationship with Boston bombing suspect Tamerlan Tsarnaev.

Hassan Shibly, Executive Director of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) Florida, said Ibragim Todashev may have pushed a table at the FBI agents and two Massachusetts state troopers.

"We have confirmed through senior sources within the FBI that Ibragim was indeed unarmed when he was shot in 7 times, once in the head, and what appears to be even in the back of the head," said Shibly. "The only thing which could be construed as a weapon was basically a model sword that was on the wall and that was there in the interview room for 5 hours almost without incident."

Todashev's wife Reni Manukyan said she can't believe he had anything to do with the bombings or a triple murder north of Boston in 2011.

"He was always there for me. He always supported me in any way that I go and so I supported him. It was meant to be that we find each other and support each other," said Manukyan.

Munukyan said she wants answers.

She and CAIR have requested an investigation by the U.S. Department of Justice's civil rights division to see if excessive force was used or whether Todashev's rights were violated.
