Couple Burned Out Of Home On Anniversary

SOUTH MIAMI (CBSMiami) – A couple celebrating their 51st wedding anniversary got an unexpected, and unpleasant, surprise. A fire severely damaged their South Miami home.

South Miami police spokesman Major Rene Landa said officers were sent to the home at 5861 SW 63rd Court after someone reported smoke coming from the home. Arriving officers confirmed that there was indeed a fire in the home and Miami-Dade Fire Rescue was called in to put it out.

Landa said no one was in the home at the time of the fire.

The couple who lives in the home will have to find a temporary place to stay. Their daughter told CBS4 she believes the cause of the fire was electrical.
