Investigation Continues Into Deadly Turnpike Crash

MIAMI (CBSMiami) – A deadly accident on the Florida Turnpike in Miramar remains under investigation.

The accident happened in the westbound lanes around 2:45 a.m. Saturday west of University Drive.

The driver of a 2004 Hyundai, identified as 33 year old Jeffrey Steven Bryce Jr. from Miramar, was stopped in the left lane when the car was rear ended by Nissan driven by 26-year old Evan Soto, according to the FHP.

On impact the Hyundai erupted into flames. Bryce, who was critically injured, was pulled from the car by Soto and another driver. The person in the passenger seat died on the scene.

The FHP has not released the name of the passenger.
