N. Miami Mayor Candidate: I'm Endorsed By Jesus Christ

NORTH MIAMI (CBS4) -  A candidate for North Miami mayor picked up a major political endorsement, or so she says.

According to CBS4 News partner The Miami Herald, Anna Pierre drafted an advertising flyer supporting her candidacy emblazoned with the words, "Anna Pierre, RN is endorsed by Jesus Christ".

In addition to the endorsement, the flyer, which is posted on her Facebook page, says if elected, Pierre will fight for free healthcare and social service programs for the elderly.

The competition is getting so fierce in the city of North Miami, Pierre said she is being threatened. Last month, she told the paper that someone left chicken feathers, food scraps candles, and other items on the doorstep of her office for three months straight.

Pierre, a registered nurse and singer, believes someone is practicing Haitian Voudou to intimidate and threaten her.

"I found little dolls with needles in it. They put a lot of pennies at front of my office door," she said. "I'm from Haiti I know what it is."

She also claims the threats are not only of the spiritual nature. Pierre said she has been receiving calls from a blocked number from a person telling her to drop out of the race.

She isn't rattled, she told the paper, primarily because of her recent endorsement.

"I have people in Haiti, Canada, and the U.S. praying for me," she said. "I have Jesus with me."

Pierre is well-known in the Haitian community, mostly due to her 1990s Creole language hit "Suk Su Bon Bon". In the song, Pierre insists her husband put sugar on her "cookie" or she will leave him.

The election is Tuesday, May 14.
