Two Dogs Die In Ft. Lauderdale House Fire

FT. LAUDERDALE (CBSMiami) – A fire in a Ft. Lauderdale home claimed the lives of two dogs.

When fire crews arrived at the home in the 2200 block of 23rd Lane Saturday morning they found a bedroom heavily engulfed in flames.

Firefighters searched the residence for anyone who may have been trapped as they attacked the fire. They found 2 dogs inside the home.

"Crews did an outstanding job of knocking down one bedroom that was heavily involved in fire", said Battalion Chief David Carter. "We removed two canines and valiant efforts by our firefighters were made to save them but unfortunately they expired".

Residents of the home are staying with relatives while fire investigators try determine the cause of the fire.
