Rescue Group Needs Help To Fix Puppy's Broken Jaw

MIAMI (CBS4) – A South Florida animal rescue group is asking for your help so they can pay for a surgery to repair an abandoned puppy's broken jaw.

Animal rescuers say a pair of American Bulldog puppies was found Tuesday morning in North Miami. They were covered with fleas, ticks and had intestinal parasites. Even worse the jaw on the male puppy, nicknamed Jack, was split in two.

Doctor Jose Barbosa is trying not to think the worst.

"When I see a little pup like this, I can't imagine that somebody willingly did this to him," Dr. Barbosa

Jack may be hurting but he's got a loving nurse by his side. Jack's sister, nicknamed Jill, tries to comfort her brother.

"She sees something wrong, she's trying to help," said Barbosa as he watched Jill lick and nuzzle Jack.

Jessie Hernandez of 1 Lucky Dog Rescue worries that someone might have harmed this adorable, helpless animal.

"I was disgusted," said Hernandez. "I don't know what to think. I don't know if it was an accident or if somebody actually harmed the puppy."

The concern right now is Jack's jaw and getting him the operation he needs to repair the damage.

"I'm sure he's in a lot of pain he just doesn't show it but every time he moves he starts yelping or crying," Hernandez said.

Hernandez says they need donations to help pay for Jack's surgery and medical care. They've already started receiving some calls and are hoping for more to get this puppy back to full strength.

Doctors will operate on Jack soon and help him recuperate before putting him up for adoption. If you want help out, contact 1 Lucky Dog Rescue.
