90-Year-Old Fla. Man Trapped In Car For 4 Days, Survives On Snacks

NEW PORT RICHEY (CBSMiami) – A 90-year-old Florida man survived in his car for four days, eating nothing but snacks after he became trapped in the car while inside his own garage.

According to WTSP News-10, it all started when Jay Ambrozia fell down at a local supermarket.

Employees helped him to his car but nobody realized he had broken an arm and his hip. Even though he was able to drive home, once he pulled into his garage, it was too painful to get out. He couldn't pull the door handle because of the searing pain in his swollen wrist.

So he stayed there, for four days, eating the snacks he had just purchased at the store.

He tried honking the horn for a while but the car battery died and the horn stopped working.

He also tried shouting for help but nobody heard him.

He also used the remote to open and shut the garage door, hoping to catch a neighbor's attention. He survived on ice cream cones, Fig Newtons and pound cake but he didn't have any water.

After 4 days, a passing neighbor spotted Ambrozia in the car all the way slumped down and called 911.

Ambrozia is now recovering at the hospital after undergoing surgery for his broken hip.
