Deadline To Register To Vote For Sun Life Renovation Is Monday

MIAMI (CBSMiami) – The ink is still drying on the agreement between Miami-Dade County and the Miami Dolphins to send a stadium renovation deal to the voters, but if you want to have a chance to vote in the special election, you have precious little time to make sure you're registered to vote.

According to Miami-Dade County's Elections Department, the deadline to register to vote in the special election on May 14 that will deal with several issues including the tax hike to renovate Sun Life Stadium is Monday, April 15.

"One of our most important missions is to encourage all eligible residents to register and to take advantage of their right to vote," said Penelope Townsley, Miami-Dade County Supervisor of Elections."

In order to register to vote you must: be 18 years or older; a U.S. citizen; a permanent resident of Miami-Dade County (note: there is no specific time requirement to live in Miami-Dade County to be considered a permanent resident.)

Registering to vote can be done in person at the Elections Department or through the Elections website. All online forms must be printed, signed, and mailed to the Elections Department with a postmark of April 15 to be valid in the special election.
