Smaller Fleet Week To Sail Into Port Everglades

FT. LAUDERDALE (CBSMiami) – This year's Fleet Week in Ft. Lauderdale may be a bit smaller than in years past due to federal sequestration, but it's just as important to those who are serving on the ships who will take part.

Broward Navy Days 23rd Annual Fleet Week, from April 29th to May 6th, will host a pair of destroyers, a submarine and one of the Coast Guard's new fast response cutters.

Ship tour registration is now open for individual and family tours. Tour numbers are limited.

After the ships arrive on the April 29th, there will be welcome party at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino.

Over the course of the week, the crews of the ships will be involved in community and charity events along with a little ship to ship competition.

After many long weeks and months at sea, the sailors say they really enjoy this much-deserved break.
