Key West Teacher Takes Home Lotto Jackpot

MIAMI (CBSMiami) – A Key West teacher who had planned to retire at the end of the current school year can now do so in style.

Deborah Jackson, 60, won a $17 million Florida Lotto jackpot from a drawing in February. Jackson chose a one-time, lump-sum payment of $11,718,436.93.

Jackson, an educator for the past 38 years, plans to use her winnings to further her philanthropic endeavors.

The Publix where she bought the ticket has received a bonus commission of $70,000.

The next Lotto drawing will be Saturday, March 30, with a $16 million jackpot.
