Report: Leaked Fins Logo Is Legit

MIAMI (CBSMiami) – When the Miami Dolphins take the field for the first time in 2013, they will have a new look with not only multiple free agents, but also a new logo and uniform.

Armando Salguero of CBS4 news partner the Miami Herald confirmed the Dolphins logo leaked on the internet last week is the team's new logo. Instead of the helmeted dolphin jumping through a sun with a helmet on, the new look will be more streamlined.

The new logo, according to the image that was leaked, will have a streamlined dolphin jumping through a more stylized sun. The dolphin in the image will be more horizontally oriented rather than vertically as was the case in the old logo.

What's not known is how the new logo will fit into a new overall look for the team. Nike is redesigning uniforms across the league and Miami will officially debut the new gear on April 25, according to the Herald's report.

The release of the new logo will coincide with the first round of the 2013 NFL Draft. Miami will have the 12th selection in the first round of the draft, assuming the team doesn't trade for a player or somewhere else in the round.

The new logo and gear will also coincide with a revamped roster that has the looks, at least on paper, of being able to compete for a playoff spot in the upcoming season.

It's also the second-straight year a team in South Florida has debuted a new logo/look for their team. The Miami Marlins performed a makeover on their logo before starting the season at Marlins Park last year.
