Breast Cancer Survivor Dies In Miami Hit-And-Run

MIAMI (CBSMiami) – A Miami woman who overcame breast cancer was killed in a hit-and-run accident Saturday.

Ana Mares was walking to her car after having dinner with her family at Sushi Siam in Brickell late Friday night, when she was struck by a car and thrown 65 feet.

The 52-year-old woman and financial advisor suffered brain trauma, internal bleeding and a broken pelvis.

Born in Argentina, Mares moved to Miami as a teenager. She had no kids, though her two nieces were like her kids.

According to police, witnesses described the car that struck Mares as a dark, 4-door with a broken passenger mirror. The car might be a Japanese make.

Police are looking at street cams as they continue to investigate Mares' death.
