Man Caught After Escaping From Back Of Hollywood Police Car

HOLLYWOOD (CBSMiami) – A brief manhunt in Hollywood ended late Tuesday evening when the suspect turned himself in to Hollywood Police.

Hollywood Police Sgt. Gene Cochenhour said Marc Vega turned himself still in handcuffs.

Vega, who had been arrested on a domestic related charge, was in the back of the squad car at Sheridan Street and N 46th Avenue when he got out of the car and made a run for it.

Hollywood officers converged on a several block area around where Vega escaped.  Officers with K9s and a helicopter were also brought in to assist in the search.

Police said Vega was not armed and will likely face additional charges when he's caught for his escape attempt.

Vega said he turned himself in because he saw the massive police presence in the area.
