U.S. Marshal Hospitalized After His Own Gun Discharges

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (CBSMiami/AP) — A U.S. Marshal was hospitalized after his gun discharged at a shooting range Wednesday morning, officials said.

The unidentified officer was wounded when his gun discharged during training at the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office shooting range, officials said.

The sheriff's office reports that marshals were training at the St. Petersburg range Wednesday morning when one marshal suffered a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the upper leg.

The marshal was treated at the scene and then transported to a nearby hospital with injuries that were not considered life-threatening.
