Scott's "Finish In Four" Plan Aims To Reel In College Costs

TALLAHASSEE (CBSMiami) – As part of Gov. Rick Scott's budget, the governor is cracking down on the soaring cost of college tuition with a not-so-crazy idea: tuition should be the same when students graduate as when they start.

Scott offered legislation that would hold tuition steady for four years for students entering a state university this fall or afterward, News Service of Florida reported.

The proposal is in the package he's sending to the Legislature, and it mirrors what Scott has proclaimed for months: that this era of nearly annual tuition increases must end.

"When I talk to universities, they know that we've got to hold the line on tuition, we've got to watch how we're spending the money," he told News Service of Florida on Thursday.
