Kid's 911 Call Foils Home Burglary

MIAMI BEACH (CBSMiami) – A quick-thinking child helped stop a robbery at his home and get police to the scene fast enough to catch all of the suspects.

It all started with the report of a Dodge Charger in the neighborhood near the 3000 block of Chase Avenue that someone called police on saying it was suspicious.

The child was home alone while his mother was out for a walk when he realized there were people breaking into the home. The family's dog was barking and the child picked up the phone and called 911 on his way to hiding in a closet.

The burglars used a crowbar to open the door and the house alarm went off. During the entire robbery, 911 operators were listening on the phone. Police were already in the area and got to the home fast enough to capture one of the suspects in the car. Two other suspects ran off.

Police got the child out of the closet and he gave a description to cops that was good enough to help them find the two men in two different places.
