Mega Job Fair Tuesday At BB&T In Sunrise

SUNRISE (CBSMiami) – Home Depot, the Miami Dolphins, Norwegian Cruise Lines and ALDI are a few of the companies looking to hire employees from a massive job fair Tuesday in Sunrise.

Representatives from nearly three dozen companies are on hand at the BB&T, formerly the Bank Atlantic Center, with more than a thousand jobs to fill including sales, management and supervisory positions.

Hundreds of people, wearing their best business attire and carrying their most recent resumes, lined up outside the BB&T before the doors opened.

Sunrise job seeker Kewin Lewis was looking to change careers.

"Honestly it's very difficult I've been looking for a job for I believe two years now but I've been really serious about it, as a New Year's resolution, I've been really serious about it," explained Lewis. "It's definitely hard. I've been speaking to a lot of people as of right now at this current job expo and it's very difficult to get inside the door but I'm very confident that my skills and my ability as well as my amazing personality will at least get the foot in."

Job seekers were optimistic that the improving economy would help them get back to work and find a new job in South Florida.

Some of the companies looking to fill positions include Home Depot which is seeking to fill more than 300 positions. The Miami Dolphins are hiring sales professionals.

OneBlood is looking for over 50 entry level –no experience needed- donor recruiters with a starting pay of $16.50/hr.

MG Clean & Green has more than 40 jobs for laundry attendants, waiters, waitresses and bellmen.

Attendees should have pre-registered online at www.jobnewsftl.com and bring plenty of resumes, about 50 should do.

Important tips for attending a job fair:

• Dress for a Job Interview. Many of the companies will interview and even hire on the spot so you want to make a good first impression.
• Get Noticed By Applying Online. Pick out 5-10 companies from the list below that you are interested in working for and visit their website to apply online. If you receive a confirmation code or a print out of the application, bring it with you to show the company that you are especially interested in employment.
• Get Connected. Ask the hiring manager at each booth for a business card so you can follow up with them.
