Police Shoot, Kill Dog After It Charges At Them

FORT LAUDERDALE (CBSMiami) – Fort Lauderdale police say they were forced to shoot and kill a dog that charged at an officer.

It happened Friday in the 1600 block of SW 22nd Street.

According to police, they were called to the neighborhood over a report that a dog had attacked and killed a cat.

When officers arrived, a loose dog grabbed the boot of the officer and would not let go.

The officer fired at the dog, which died.

Animal Care and Control took another loose dog away.

Neighbors said the dogs' owner might have been evicted and left the animals.

Police said if they locate the owners, they will face citations.
