Scooter Store Destroyed By Fire Started By Molotov Cocktails

NORTHEAST MIAMI-DADE (CBS4) – For the past 20 years, two brothers have put their whole life into their business and in a matter of minutes they lost everything in an intentionally set fire that started next door.

Security video obtained by CBS4's Silva Harapetian from the Astro Scooter Shop showed a gold sedan pull into the alley and then the passenger door flies open.

From there, something is lit and thrown into Astro Scooter located at 79th Street and Biscayne Boulevard.

"I heard three explosions, that wasn't too loud but loud enough to get my attention," said employee Roman Nunez.

Nunez stays at the shop overnight and said after he heard the noise; he called for help and then called the owners. Nobody was hurt in the fire, but the damage was extensive.

"All those, 40-50 scooters, I don't know how many myself," said Walter Presic, owner. "They're all gone. I don't deserve none of that."

With the security video in hand, fire investigators are now looking for a man who may have information. The man was Caucasian, with dark hair, facial hair, and in a white jersey with the number seven on it.

The man was captured on surveillance video walking by the business in the alley more than a half dozen times.

The brothers say they have no enemies and don't know who would target them. All total, the Presic brothers said they lost more than $200,000 to damage from the fire. The brothers have no insurance.

Anyone with information is urged to call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at (305) 471-TIPS.
