Family Spends Christmas Eve At JMH After Dad Robbed, Shot

NORTH MIAMI (CBSMiami) – A South Florida family spent Christmas Eve at Jackson Memorial Hospital after their loved one was shot during an armed robbery at North Miami's 7th Avenue Flea Market.

"This is crazy! I think the guys should get more security here," said the victim's daughter, who did not want to be identified.

Her father, 58-year-old Neil Wilson, owns a jewelry shop at the flea market and was working when a group of men tried to rob him. Police continue searching for multiple suspects.

"I hear it was about four to five guys with bandanas," said Wilson.

The victim's daughter believes the gunmen were after jewelry. She said her father normally sells costume jewelry, but decided to sell real gold on Christmas Eve.

Although saddened by the shooting, she said she was not surprised by it.

"This happens every year. There is a shooting here every Christmas. They waited for him to put the gold out...it was like they were watching him or something."

Neil Wilson remained in the hospital as of Christmas morning.

If you have any information about this crime, please call Miami-Dade Crimestoppers at 305-471-TIPS (8477).
