Dwyane Wade To Help Families In Need This Weekend

MIAMI (CBSMiami) – This weekend, Dwyane Wade will bring smiles as bright as Christmas to South Florida's underprivileged families.

"3 Under The Tree", an event hosted by the NBA all-star's Wade's World Foundation, will surprise the deserving families this Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

On Friday afternoon, Wade surprised Welline Rose Lubin and her two young children with a special "home invasion". An electrical fire tore through the family's Hallandale Beach apartment on December 7, leaving them homeless. The family's new home in Hollywood was given a big makeover.

On Saturday, the basketball star will join ten local families in need as they each go on a $1,000 shopping spree at Target in Midtown.  The Wade's World Foundation will be partnering with CBS4's Neighbors 4 Neighbors and local churches to select these families.

Then, on Sunday, Dwyane will team up with Big Brothers Big Sisters to identify 100 fathers and 100 children to attend an afternoon of food, fun and games at Santa's Enchanted Forest.  All fathers will receive a copy of Dwyane's memoir, A Father First: How My Life Became Bigger than Basketball.

Dwyane Wade created Wade's World Foundation to provide support to various educational, health and family service programs. In addition to these events, Wade and his family have been dedicated to giving back to the South Florida and Chicago-area communities through a variety of community outreach programs and donations since 2003.
