S. Florida Not The Best Place For Young Workers In State

MIAMI (CBSMiami) – Young people have always flocked to South Florida for the night life, the pristine beaches, and the overall atmosphere. But, according to the U.S. Census, South Florida is not the best place in the Sunshine State for young workers to find a job.

Instead, the best area for young workers is in the Tallahassee-area zip code of 32312. Conversely, the worst place in the state to find jobs is in Jacksonville.

According to the Census Bureau, the best place for African-American workers was in South Florida in zip code 33018. The unemployment rate for African-Americans in that zip code was just 0.4 percent. The worst place was 34667, just north of Tampa.

The best place for workers with a college education was 32205 near Jacksonville where unemployment stood at 1.3 percent for those with a Bachelor's degree. The worst area for college grads was in Bonita Springs along the southwest coast of Florida.
