Battier Listed As Day-To-Day With Knee Injury

MIAMI (CBSMiami) – The Miami Heat will be without one of their key contributors for a few days. Forward Shane Battier is expected to miss a few days due to a sprain in his right knee.

Officially, the Heat has Battier listed as day-to-day.

Battier missed practice on Monday and said the injury could have been much worse than it actually was. He was injured after landing awkwardly during Saturday's victory over the Cleveland Cavaliers.

The Heat start Battier as a small forward, but use him to guard power forwards many times during games. His emergence during last year's NBA Finals was one of the biggest difference makers for the Heat in their championship run.

Battier has started in 13 of Miami's games this season, averaging 7 points and hitting roughly 46 percent of his 3-point shots. The Heat don't play again until Thursday when they take on Western Conference power San Antonio at the AmericanAirlines Arena.
