BSO Searching For Silver Van Involved In Hit-And-Run

NORTH LAUDERDALE (CBSMiami) – A woman is fighting her life after she was run down by a silver minivan in North Lauderdale.

Now the Broward Sheriff's Office is asking for the public's help in finding the van's driver.

It happened Tuesday around 10 p.m.   Jean Mirabile, 49, was crossing the street at the intersection of SW 12th Street and State Road 7 when she was struck by the van which sped off.  Witnesses said that Marabile walked into the vehicle's path just as the light turned green, but the person in the van never got out to help her.

Mirabile was flown to Broward Health North hospital.

BSO traffic homicide officers were called to the scene due to the severity of the accident.

Mirabile is now in stable condition and improving, her injuries are said to be non-life threatening.

Detectives are now looking for the driver of what is thought to be a 2001-2005 Chrysler Town and Country minivan.  It will be missing the mirror on the passenger side and possibly other damages to that side of the vehicle.
