Rubio's Daughter Listed As "Fair" After Crash

MIAMI (CBS4) - Senator Marco Rubio's daughter remains hospitalized at Miami Children's Hospital one day after she was injured in a crash involving a golf cart.

"Amanda Rubio, the oldest daughter of Senator Marco Rubio, was injured in an accident," according to a statement from the Rubio Campaign.  "While visiting with classmates, she was a passenger on a golf cart involved in a collision in a private gated community."

Amanda, 12, was airlifted to MCH where she was admitted to the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit  with a head injury.  As of Sunday she was in fair condition.

"Amanda Rubio remains in fair condition at the Intensive Care Unit at Miami Children's Hospital. Her long-term prognosis is favorable. The family is grateful for all the messages of support and the prayers said for their daughter,"  according to the statement from Rubio campaign on Sunday.

Amanda Rubio is undergoing neurological testing and her outlook is positive, according to Rubio spokesman Alex Conant.

Sen. Rubio was at a campaign event with Mitt Romney in Kissimmee on Saturday when he heard about his daughter's accident.

He arrived back in South Florida Saturday evening.

Family friend and Miami-Dade County Commissioner Rebeca Sosa was there when Rubio arrived.

"She opened her eyes, and you know, said 'Daddy, I love you'," Sosa said of Amanda's reaction to seeing her father. "They are a very close family."

Rubio has four children.

"Many tests were done," Sosa said. "She's doing better. She's talking and the whole family is next to her."

It's not known if, or when, Rubio will resume campaigning for Romney.
