Lauderdale Lakes Man Arrested For Alleged Molestation Of Young Girl

LAUDERDALE LAKES (CBS4) - Broward Sheriff's Office investigators say they have a man wanted for molesting a then-six year old girl in 2010.

Jorim Athanaze, 20, charged with lewd or lascivious molestation.

Investigators say two years ago, Athanaze's mother frequently babysat the 6 year old victim in their home. His mother recently contacted the police after learning of the alleged acts.

The girl reportedly told BSO's Special Victim's Unit that Athanaze partially undressed her and molested her on several occasions.

When questioned by detectives, Athanaze said he knew the victim, but denied molesting her. Police say he did admit to molesting two other children under the age of 12 when he was a juvenile. Charges in connection with those alleged incidents are pending due to an investigation by the State Attorney's Office.

Athanaze was released without posting bond, but was fitted with an electronic ankle monitoring device.

Investigators believe that there may be more victims.
