Hurricane Rafael Turning Away From Bermuda

MIAMI (CBSMiami) – Outer rain bands and tropical storm force winds from Hurricane Rafael pelted Bermuda Tuesday night, but the storm has begun to take a turn away from the island nation.

At 11 p.m., the center of the storm was about 135 miles east of Bermuda. Rafael had top sustained winds of 85 mph and was moving north-northeast at 29 mph.

Rafael is forecast to take a turn to the northeast and increase its forward speed by Wednesday.

A Tropical Storm Warning has been discontinued for Bermuda.

Rafael is expected to produce total rainfall amounts of 2 to 4 inches across Bermuda.
