Fins' Starks Named AFC Defensive Player Of Week

MIAMI (CBSMiami) – The Miami Dolphins run defense has been one of the best in the NFL this season and Wednesday one of the key cogs in the middle of that defense was honored.

The NFL announced Wednesday defensive tackle Randy Starks was named the AFC Defensive Player of the Week for Week 5.

In last week's victory over the Cincinnati Bengals, Starks recorded three tackles, two passes defensed, a quarterback hit, a half-sack, and recorded his first interception of the season when he picked off an Andy Dalton pass in the third quarter.

Wednesday's award is the first time Starks has been selected as the defensive player of the week and is the first Dolphins defensive tackle to win the honor. Starks is the first Dolphin defensive player to win the award since Week 11 of the 2006 season when Jason Taylor took top honors.
