Doll Lovers' Heaven: Florida's First American Girl Store Opens

MIAMI (CBSMiami) — Florida is finally getting its first American Girl store.

The store, which opened Saturday at The Falls in Miami, celebrated the grand opening with a host of weekend activities.

On Saturday, young guests enjoyed live entertainment from Universal Gymnastics, Simp City Dancers and National Karate, who held a performance.

On Sunday, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., guests can witness demonstrations from Hero Martial Arts and Simp City Dancers. Other activities include a balloon artist, face painting, art and a Kidgits activity table.

A very special showing of Kit Kittredge: An American Girl will air both days, at 10 a.m. and 12 p.m. at the mall's Regal Cinemas.

Additionally, many retailers and restaurants will be offering discounts and specials in honor of the American Girl store's opening weekend.

The Falls is located at 8888 SW 136 Street in Miami. The event is free and open to the community.
