Fins Sign WR Jabar Gaffney

MIAMI (CBSMiami) – The Miami Dolphins wide receiving corps seemed to be turn a corner last weekend against the Arizona Cardinals. But, the Dolphins have been in the market for help at receiver and finally addressed the problem by signing Jabar Gaffney Tuesday.

Gaffney's signing has been expected for a few weeks, but the Fins have been waiting for him to get fully healthy. The Dolphins made room for Gaffney on the roster by releasing defensive tackle Andre Fluellen and wide receiver Legedu Naanee.

The Dolphins had expected big things from Naanee based on what they said in the preseason. But he struggled to get on the field and struggled even more when he was on the field.

In Gaffney, the Fins will have a viable third option in the passing game beyond wide receivers Davone Bess and Brian Hartline.

Gaffney is an 11-year veteran and spent last season with the Washington Redskins. As a Redskin, Gaffney set a career-high in receptions (68) and receiving yards (947). All total, Gaffney has caught 443 passes for 5,622 yards and 24 touchdowns.
